Using Lightning For Outlook

Linking E-Mails to Opportunities, Contacts, Accounts

All Activities should by default be linked to their corresponding Opportunity, which if set up correctly (With a Key Contact), will link the activity to both the contact and opportunity.

When you have the eMail you want opened, click 'View'. This searches all of Salesforce for the First Name, Last Name, and eMail Address.
If your contact doesn't show up, use the regular search bar.

In the Online Portal version of your Outlook Inbox, this icon shows up at the top of the eMail

Once the 'View' button is clicked, a pannel on the right hand side will appear

When you link an e-mail, Salesforce will create an activity with the body of your email in whatever object you select (Contacts, Opportunities, Accounts).

When you 'Relate' an e-mail, that record will show up whenever you 'View' a contact from Outlook

I've related an opportunity to this e-mail as well. When I re-open the 'View' button this is what is shown

If your Opportunity has a 'Key Contact' linked to it, linking this eMail will go to both the Opportunity & Contact with one click.

Creating Contacts Directly from Outlook

When you click 'View' for a contact that doesn't exist, you'll be prompted to add it

After clicking the 'Add New' button, you're shown the standard set of fields we use for contacts. Enter in the relevant information and click 'Save'.

Once saved, clicking 'View' will show the newly created contact and any related records, object, or lists.

Search for Unrelated Records

Your searches aren't limited to the e-mail you've selected. You can use the search bar for any record in salesforce.

The only limitation about Lighting for Outlook is that you're not allowed to make changes to records. This has to be done through salesforce it's self.
