Daily ACS Upload

For running the Daily ACS Upload manually on PROD-AUTOMATE, please follow below:

  • Log in to PROD-AUTOMATE using Remote Desktop
  • Open Automate tool if it has not already.
  • On the Automate Tool, search for “acs” on the search box on the upper right hand so you can see the ACS Upload task we wish to run from the list
  • Find the task named “ATYPON_DAILY_UPLOAD_TO_ACS_SCREEN
  • Right-click on it and click menu item “Run” – this should commence the ACS upload to Atypon

Notes:

  • Just let the Remote Desktop be active on your screen – do not minimize it, otherwise it might fail.
  • While the task is running, please do not move your cursor as this will mess up the execution. The steps are hardwired to execute at specific coordinates in the screen, so any sudden movement will throw off the steps and the entire thing will fail.
  • If it fails, there is no harm in re-running it
    • But make sure you first close the browser it used from previous run, including all pop windows it opened up
    • If for some reason it has already ran and you ran it again (either intentionally or by mistake), there is actually no harm done – because at the end of the step, it removes the approval file it processed for the run, so this means the next time it runs, there is nothing to approve already. In this case, it will just end quickly (and no email will be sent since there is none processed). An email will be sent if something was processed.

Every morning, either Vince or Bill approves an ACS file to be uploaded. Sometimes, there is nothing to approve so nothing will be sent, and in this case, the Automate batch above will not run (since it does not receive any approvals at all to process).

So just to save you time, and for you to know that you really need to run the batch, just watch out for the Error email you will receive like below. Receiving this tells you that they have approved an ACS file and you have to trigger the automation program so it can upload it.

So please make sure that when you receive this error message, you execute the batch whenever you can. And again, it does not hurt it if has already ran since it will just end immediately if there is already nothing to upload.

As discussed, can please make sure you always have the PROD-AUTOMATE server up in your screen at all times.

If for some reason, it disappears from your desktop, that means it may have restarted, or somebody logged in which kicked you out. In this case, you must need to reconnect your Remote Desktop again.

Here is the login information you can use to connect to the server using Remote Desktop.
