Add Author to Article
Find 'Post Author' Box on the edit post screen
All author data and display controls are now contained in this box. The wordpress standard 'post author' will no longer be used to output author data, so the ONLY way of attaching authors data to an article is now via this box.
Input your Author Data
There are two fields available to you - 'Authors' and 'Additional Authors'.
Authors
An 'Author' is a user that is registered in Wordpress whose account can be attached to the article. When an Authors name is printed on the front-end, it carries a link to their author page with a list of all the articles they are listed for. You can select as many 'Authors' as you like by simply opening the dropdown menu and selecting another. Authors are pre-existing in the Wordpress database. If you feel an author should be added to this list, please contact Kathy.
Additional Authors
An 'Additional Author' is used to add a tagged author who is not included in the dropdown list. You can enter multiple 'Additional Authors' using a pipe separated list. A pipe is a unique character generated by typing 'shift' + '\'. It is important that data is entered in this format so that it is parsed and correctly formatted on the front end. A correct pipe separated list would look like
Leah Organa, MD | Han Solo, PhD, | Luke Skywalker
ALL of the selected 'Authors' and ALL of the selected 'Additional Authors' will be added to the article but ONLY if the 'Show Articles' box is checked. See next step.
Show the Selected Authors
In order to output the authors byline to the article with all of the authors you have selected you must select 'Show' from the 'Show Authors' box. If not, there will simply be no byline. Use the 'Hide' setting for articles which should not have an author. This box defaults to 'Hide' so it must be set to 'Show' manually.
Save the Article
Press the 'Update' button as usual. You are done!
